Amazon‘s Scout delivery robots are making their way down South to deliver packages to select customers in Atlanta, Georgia and Franklin, Tennessee. The delivery robots will allow Prime members to access free Same-Day, One-Day, and Two-Day shipping.
The Scout delivery robots have already delivered thousands of packages to customers in Snohomish County, Washington and in the Irvine-area of California. The move down south into Georgia and Tennessee is a part of the company’s larger goal of becoming zero carbon by 2040.
Along with the news Amazon shared that a few of the customer’s children made thank you cards for the delivery robots and handed them over to the Scout ambassadors who accompany the delivery robots on deliveries.
Amazon’s delivery methods
Amazon has been working on new alternative delivery methods over the last few years with ground-based robots like the Scout and airborne delivery drones. Both of these delivery methods aim to remove the need for humans to undertake deliveries allowing Amazon to cut costs and improve efficiency by skipping ground-based delivery networks such as roads for good.
More widespread, Amazon and various other companies such as Google’s Wing Aviation are delivering goods by drone and have done so with various amounts of success. Wing Aviation is delivering goods in eastern Australia and the United States.
