Filippo has always been interested in photography, when the first drones started to make their way to market Filippo bought himself a DJI Mavic Pro and that’s when his photography career started. Filippo left his day to job to peruse his passion in photography and sharing his passion with the world.
The world is full of amazing photographers, videographers and drone pilots, this can be seen throughout Instagram and various other social media platforms. Today we got the pleasure of asking Filippo Cozzi a few questions about him and how he came to do what he does today.
How did you first get into photography and drones?
I always have been attracted by photography in general. I suppose that the advent of drones has boosted it even more. One year ago, I was working in an electronic store and so I had all to look at the drones. Seeing the beautiful pictures and videos you can take from above wasn’t enough for me. Then I bought a DJI Mavic Pro and that’s when it all started.
Has photography helped you through a hard time?
Photography and also videography are helping me every day. Because they are what I love to do, both for fun and work. In fact I left my job to dedicate myself full time and follow my passion and dreams.
What is one thing photography has taught you over the years?
Over the years photography has taught me that nothing is impossible. Imagination has no limits. And also that anyone can become an artist without having done a course or a going to a school but only by expressing what you have inside. There are not only beautiful things in the world though. I have to be realistic and I learned that many people do not understand the complexity and the work behind a beautiful shot or image. Often they underestimate your work, because “it’s just a picture”. It’s sad. Art is always underestimated.
Sometimes people ask me when I will start doing real work again.

What would you say to people who are thinking about or are too scared to show off their work?
The problem with this “social world” is that people think that you do things only to appear and show that you are better than them. But it’s not true. Both photography and videography are based precisely on showing others your work. I was afraid of the judgement of people at the beginning and I didn’t load so much of my content for fear of criticism or not being liked by people. Seeing how some creators on Instagram continue to pursue their goals and dreams helped me. Now I laugh when I get meaningless criticism. People love to keep you in anonymity and mediocrity. Few support you when you’re nobody. But again, it is not true. You are not nobody, you are yourself and you must express it and live free.
Who inspires you?
My sources of inspiration are those that go against criticism and do not follow the established or safe route but risk doing what they love. One of my favourite drone masters is Sam Kolder obviously. His content is mind blowing. He also started fpv droning. I want to be as good as him.
