The upcoming DJI Mavic Mini is now an official drone thanks to a recent listing in the FCC’s database. In the last few months we have seen photos of what looks to be a DJI Mavic Air and DJI Mavic Pro crossover but were never able to get any more information on it.

Earlier this week an FCC listing appeared registered to DJI hinting at a new drone likely to be the DJI Mavic Mini.

The listing consisted of the usual documents submitted with a new product along with the FCC label all products are required to have. The label as seen in the photo above is a classic label from DJI and also has the product’s name on it, which is the DJI Mavic Mini.

Although the previous photos which we have seen do look like a pre-production version of the drone with various oddities including an open frame and a Micro USB port DJI have asked for the new photos of the Mavic Mini to be kept under lock and key for 180 days.

The new DJI Mavic Mini is expected to come in at around 245 grams and have a form factor that is similar to the DJI Mavic Air with a flight-time under 20 minutes. The camera is likely to be a 12MP sensor capable of 4K 30fps video at 60mbps. The Mavic Mini will almost certainly use DJI’s enhanced Wi-Fi to control the drone with an added controller which would dramatically extend the range of the drone.
