Earlier, today DJI announced its latest product launch, the DJI ‘Up Your Game’ event possibly showing the DJI Mavic Air 2 off to the public on the 28th of April (ACT time). While it’s almost certain the DJI Mavic Air 2 will be announced, there is also a chance for an Osmo Pocket refresh.
Earlier today DJI shared a video across its social media accounts of its latest event and likely launch of the DJI Mavic Air 2 drone. The video showed off a silhouette figure which looks to resemble the top of a drone along with a set of propellers attached to the arms of the drone.
The DJI Mavic Air 2 will likely be announced at the event on the 28th of April, but it’s also very like we might see another new product making its way to the event. Specifically, a product that’s overdue for a refresh, the Osmo Pocket.
Mavic Air 2
The DJI Mavic Air 2’s FCC label was first shared online showing us that the new Mavic Air drone will come with a 3500mAh battery, an increase of 1,125mAh from the original Mavic Air’s 2375mAh. The Mavic Air 2 is likely to include DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 technology and a few of the features found on the Mavic 2 series, including, the downward-facing light, obstacle avoidance sensors on more than just the front.
As this will be DJI’s first drone to come out in 2020, it will almost certainly include an ADS-B sensor to improve flight safety. The ADS-B sensor will allow manned aircraft and other drones to know when they are near to one another and sending a notification to your phone.
Controller
The new controller brings along a brand new design forgoing the phone mount at the bottom of the controller for a new simpler looking phone mount. The controller also comes with a beefy heatsink possibly to keep the OcuSync 2.0 internals cool while flying. The image also shows the controller will not include an in-built display but will rather keep a three-way flight mode switch, power button, and a return-to-home button.
