DJI Enterprise has just announced a new event on Twitter, titled ‘Powerful Range, Elevated Precision’, with an image that looks to be of un updated Zenmuse L1 LiDAR payload. A potential DJI Zenmuse L2?
What we know so far
The teaser, which went live about an hour ago, comes from DJI’s Enterprise twitter account. Which means it’s a new enterprise product being launched. From the image, we can tell that it’s a gimbal and features the DJI Zenmuse branding on the connector, which connects it to the drone. In this case, following with the rest of the Enterprise Zenmuse payloads, the DJI Matrice 300 and DJI Matrice 350 RTK.
Is it the DJI Zenmuse L2?
From the image shared by DJI we know it’s a new DJI Zenmuse payload. Comparing it to current generation Zenmuse payloads, such as the H20 series, P1, and L1, it looks to be very similar to the Zenmuse L1, suggesting it’s the next LiADR payload from DJI, the DJI Zenmuse L2.
After slightly altering the image (see below), we can see two distinct sensors, a large green tinted glass sheet which houses the actual LiDAR unit and a square sensor.
The Zenmuse L1 had a 20MP 1″ RGB camera and an FPV camera underneath the LiDAR sensor, suggesting the L2 forgoes the FPV camera as the Matrice 300 and Matrice 350 both have a built-in FPV camera.
